Groningen 2040- Groningen in the North of the Netherlands has huge potential to become a transport hub being linked to the rest of the Netherlands and even internationally to Germany. This project proposes a high speed rail system comprising a shuttle and a high speed train that work together to reduce journey times whilst not excluding areas that would otherwise be bypassed by high speed rail lines. The shuttle system also aims to reduce passenger stress and enhance passenger experience through the use of wearable technology and a passenger capsule that transfers passengers between the platform, shuttle and train without the need to leave their seats.
